Our 2024 Camp will be held
from Monday July 8 - Friday July 12
"What is achieved in one week is nothing short of miraculous"
At South Australian Music Camp, we offer young orchestral musicians a structured opportunity to grow musically. Our program is designed for students to gain ensemble playing experience and self-confidence while making new friends and developing their instrumental skills.
Our camps have been an outstanding success musically, educationally and socially. The students put in a great effort and are rewarded with a magnificent concert to conclude Camp. Our thanks to all who contribute so ably to this fantastic event and to all the parents, relatives and friends who attend the final concert. Your children and all involved in SA Music Camp enjoy your support. To find out more, please read on or get in touch with us.
The SA Music Camp information and online application process is released at the start of the school year.
Entry to Music Camp is by audition, held during May each year.
About Our Music Camp
SA Music Camp offers instrumentalists from the age of nine to twenty three years an opportunity to play in one of five ensembles which cater for a wide range of ages, standards and levels of experience.
Daily routine includes a mixture of tutorials with specialist tutors, and rehearsals with leading conductors.
All ensembles perform in a final concert on the Friday night.
The value of SA Music Camp is recognised by placing young players in a stimulating environment where they tackle and master challenging and enjoyable repertoire in the course of 5 days, and succeed in presenting an exciting final concert to parents and friends. What is achieved in one week is nothing short of miraculous.
Campers are mentored by experienced professional musicians and conductors who are chosen for their empathy with young performers. Music Camp has for a long time become an integral part of the lives of young South Australian musicians. The success of SA Music Camp, spanning 5 decades, is clearly evident by the number of well-established performers and teachers in our community who acknowledge the value of Music Camp, both State and National. It is interesting to note that campers from an earlier generation often keep in touch with the movement, either as proud parents of keen young campers, or sometimes as tutors and conductors.
The South Australian Music Camp Association Inc. was founded in 1962. The organisational team volunteer many hours of their time and are truly dedicated to the youth music movement in South Australia.
